We are thrilled to  welcome our new Executive Director, Alexandra Rothlisberger, a leader and expert in sustainable program development and implementation with over fifteen years of experience working with some of the most influential international animal welfare organizations.  Throughout her career she has helped build and strengthen the capacity of dozens of animal welfare organizations working to improve life conditions for owned, abandoned and stray companion animals across Latin America and the Caribbean. Amici Cannis on wheels 

During our Executive Director’s  recent visit to Ecuador we unveiled Amici Cannis’ new transportation vehicle, purchased thanks to a generous donation from Dogs Trust Worldwide. This vehicle is an essential part of our outreach program in the indigenous villages in the immediate surroundings of Cotacachi. Amici Cannis collaborates with these communities by providing high-quality spay/neuter and preventative medicine to the many dogs and cats who up to now had no access to care.

No more puppies for Brindle

Amici Cannis' community dog program has been incredibly successful in providing street dogs with the preventive veterinary care and emergency services they deserve while they find a forever home. While most dogs are relatively easy to bring in to the Amici Cannis animal hospital for care, some, like Brindle, keep our team up at night. 

Puca is one of six puppies born in the streets in the village of La Calera. Our vehicle provides families, like Puca’s, with transportation for their animals to and from the hospital, where our team of trained veterinarians perform spay/neuter surgeries with the highest quality of standards and care.
