We Love Our Visiting Students and Vets!

Help Animals, Support Communities, Change Lives
At Amici Cannis, we are privileged to save lives, care for animals in distress, and help families keep their beloved companions healthy. That’s why we’re always excited to welcome visiting students and veterinarians who travel to Cotacachi to lend a hand, become part of our mission, and experience Ecuadorian culture firsthand.
From cuddling puppies at the hospital to joining vaccination campaigns in rural communities, our visitors immerse themselves deeply in the local way of life, connect with families, and support the animals and people who need them most.
Those who visit for the first time often leave with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm for the profession. Many return year after year, some to mentor students, others simply to spend time with our team and continue contributing to our programs. Dr. Marian Schenk shares that, "Working with Amici Cannis in Ecuador are some of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had, which is why I continue to return year after year. Teaching is a passion of mine and watching the students learn and develop their skills as veterinary surgeons is amazing".
Visiting vets and students also have the opportunity to join our team during our Be Kind education program, which helps children learn compassion and safe ways to interact with animals. And of course, there’s always time for a bit of adventure: Cotacachi offers breathtaking day trips and unforgettable experiences that inspire any traveler to explore a little further.
So if you’re thinking about volunteering in Ecuador, we’d love to have you join us at Amici Cannis Hospital Veterinario. Just send us an email at info@amicicannisusa.org and we’ll be happy to share more details.
