Brindle is a pup like many others in Ecuador
por Heather Steyn 01 oct., 2023
Brindle is a pup like many others in Ecuador. Born in an open field in the outskirts of the town of Cotacachi, she grew up being cared for by the children who go to a nearby school, and fed by individuals who live near the field. When Brindle was born, two of her male siblings were taken by individuals looking to welcome a dog into their families. When there is no access to veterinary care, and no alternatives to humanely stop reproduction, male dogs and cats are usually preferred and get adopted more quickly, while the females stay in the streets and continue to give birth to litter after litter of puppies. Brindle was no exception.

He was an emaciated, tortured and very ill 4 month old puppy when he was captured from the highway and brought to Amici Cannis Hospital de Animales for treatment.

Lassie was a 7 month old Shar Pei who was found wandering the streets of Cotacachi and brought in by a concerned community member. Lassie was suffering from a severe skin disease which was causing open oozing wounds all over her body. She apparently had been left on the streets abandoned, and suffering.
